SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio fire crews battled a house fire on the West Side early Thursday morning.

The fire broke out around 6:30 a.m. at a vacant house in the 300 block of Remolino on the West Side.

A neighbor tells KSAT she was taking out the trash and noticed the fire across the street

She realized the flames were spreading quickly and ran to the home next to the burning house and helped an elderly man out.

That man's home was damaged by the fire as well, but no injuries have been reported.

Damage estimates were unknown and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
