Husband charged with murder in overnight shooting death of wife

George Chapple, 59, arrested Friday morning

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has charged George Chapple, 59, with murder in the shooting death of his wife early Friday morning. A mugshot of Chapple was not immediately available.

The woman, who was found shot to death inside her Northeast Bexar County home, had moved in only recently, neighbors said.

They said the 60-year-old woman had been living in the duplex in the 7600 block of Windsor Oaks for about a month. One woman, who chose not to appear on camera, said she often saw the victim sitting outside her home, relaxing.

Bexar County deputies found the woman gravely wounded around 1:30 a.m. Friday. She was rushed to a hospital but died a short time later.

A news release issued later in the morning revealed little new information. It said the case is still under investigation.

Several neighbors said it’s not uncommon to hear loud noises in the area. However, no one who spoke to KSAT 12 News, including people who live in the next building, heard any gunshots. A Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said detectives are still looking into whether the shooting happened at the home or perhaps another location.
