NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -

A New Braunfels man was killed in a crash late Monday night on Interstate 35. The victim was identified as 44-year-old Martin Zimmerman.

A New Braunfels Police Department press release stated officers responded to the single-car crash around 8 p.m. on I-35 North.

Officers found a 2002 KIA Sedona minivan against the inside dividing wall of I-35.

Zimmerman was unresponsive and fire department personnel pulled him out of his minivan and immediately began life saving measures.

Zimmerman was transported to Christus Santa Rosa and later pronounced dead.

The release stated a preliminary investigation showed the mini-van struck the guardrail on the outside shoulder and then veered across four lanes of I-35 into the inside dividing wall, where it came to a stop.

The interstate was shut down for an hour and a half while officers investigated the accident. Officials have not determined what caused Zimmerman to lose control of the vehicle.
