A police officer trying to make a traffic stop instead scored a bigger arrest.
That officer now has a drug bust to his credit.
The arrest happened around 11 a.m. Saturday.
Police say the officer tried to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle rider near West Ave. and Harwood.
When the officer hit his lights the cycle rider took off and tossed a small package as he rode down West Ave.
Police say the man on the cycle pulled into a shop on West Ave. and the officer arrested him.
Police say they found the package the man tossed.
It contained methamphetamine.
A police sergeant at the scene said the man will be charged with evading arrest and with possession of a controlled substance.
