North and South Padre Island beaches closed to driving

SAN ANTONIO – Tropical Storm Cindy is moving farther east, but the beaches at Padre Island National Seashore are still feeling her effects.

The North and South beaches of Padre Island will be closed at least through Thursday due to extremely high tides.

Park Rangers are closely monitoring the situation to determine when the beaches will reopen to driving.

There is also currently as coastal flood advisory and high rip current danger in addition to the beach driving alert.
