SAN ANTONIO -

A police standoff that lasted nearly seven hours on the northwest side ended without incident Monday evening.

Police say the 46-year-old man who threatened to hurt himself talked with police and he was allowed to remain inside his home in the 9400 block of Rue De Bois.

SAPD Sgt. Javier Salazar said their goal always in these situations is to make sure the person threatening their life, does not hurt themselves or others nearby.

“He came out and spoke to the negotiators at length face to face, and demonstrated to them that he's not a danger to himself or others, no laws were broken so we let him go on his way and we're going ours," said Salazar.

Police did not charge or issue the man with a ticket.
