San Antonio police Chief Bill McManus said a Thursday standoff at a Northwest Side home ended peacefully about two and a half hours after it started.
McManus said a report of a family disturbance went out around 11:30 a.m. from a home in the 8600 block of Timber Place.
He said a 26-year-old woman told investigators her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend entered her home through the back door with a gun or possibly a hammer.
She said she was in the home at the time with a 3-year-old child and another man.
SWAT officers arrived and after a short while, the woman and the child came out and the suspect remained in the house, McManus said.
It is unclear when the other man exited the home.
Around 1:45 p.m., the suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.
No one was injured and McManus said investigators will be looking through the home to determine if a weapon was used during the incident.
If there was, McManus said, that will be factored in to any charges against the suspect.
For now, he is facing a charge of family violence, McManus said.
