A neighbor said the two men involved in the fight were a woman's son and boyfriend. The woman tried to break up the fight, officials said.

The neighbor said she woke to hear a man screaming for mercy and another saying in Spanish that he was going to kill him.

The neighbor added that one of the men involved is always in the street screaming, but that he usually is talking to an imaginary person.

SAPD has been seen putting down about a dozen evidence markers near blood and other items. An officer said there is a bracelet on the ground that belongs to the woman who tried to break up the fight.
