The two suspects arrested in the shooting death of San Antonio Police Officer Robert Deckard have been formally indicted by an Atascosa County grand jury.

The Bexar County District Attorney's Office says 32-year-old Shawn Ruiz Puente and 28-year-old Jenevieve Ramos are both charged with capital murder and aggravated assault on a peace officer.

The pair were arrested on Dec. 8 after they led authorities on a high-speed chase across three area counties.

Police said Deckard initiated the chase in San Antonio and was shot in the head. He died at the hospital several days later from his injuries.

Puente and Ramos are also accused of opening fire on a Poth police officer during the same chase. That officer was not injured.

The Bexar County District Attorney's Office expects a Wilson County grand jury to indict the pair for attempted capital murder.

Puente and Ramos face life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted.
