SAN ANTONIO -

A passerby is credited with helping a family escape a house fire in southwest San Antonio. The fire broke out around 5 a.m. at a house in the 400 block of Bynum.  

A man, woman and a young girl were all inside but made it out safe. The woman told KSAT a passerby noticed the fire and woke them up.

She said it appeared as if the fire was in the AC unit, but the San Antonio fire battalion chief said they found fire outside the home in two places and arson is investigating.

A cause for the fire or damage estimates were unknown as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Neighbor were also evacuated while fire crews battled the blaze, but no injuries were reported.
