Pearsall ISD under supervision of conservator

TEA announced change Friday

PEARSALL, Texas – Pearsall Independent School District is under the supervision of a conservator. The Texas Education Agency sent a letter to the school district on Friday about the change.

The letter stated that the troubled district has seen “multiple years of academically unacceptable or insufficient performance.”

Just last year, Pearsall ISD was in danger of being shut down by the TEA because of failing to meet state academic standards for four years straight.

The school district pointed to the problem being high turnover rates in administrative and teaching positions.

The TEA said it will appoint a board of managers. Major changes will be needed for the district to remain open.
