People recreate famous Alamo moments in history

SAN ANTONIO – Historians on Friday recreated one of the most famous moments in Alamo history: the ride across Texas to deliver the famous “victory or death” letter.

The letter, penned by Alamo commander William B. Travis, contained an impassioned plea for reinforcements at the Alamo.

Courier Albert Martin began his ride back on Feb. 24, 1836, to deliver it.

Following Friday morning’s “ride for Texas independence,” visitors at the Alamo took part in interactive activities to learn more about 19th-century letter writing, printing, transportation and more.

On March 3, there will be an evening with the heroes, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Being that weekend, more events will be held – on March 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Alamo will host the Fiddle Fest, which is free and open to the public.

Lastly, on March 6 at 6 p.m. there will be Dusk at the Alamo.
