NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Police are looking for two men who robbed a Burger King in New Braunfels on Tuesday, then fired shots at an employee of the chain restaurant who chased the pair down, officers said Wednesday.

The armed robbery happened about 9:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Interstate 35 North, according to a news release from police.

Two men entered the restaurant, each displaying a handgun to workers and customers, then demanded money from the employees, officers said. The robbers wore bandanas to cover their faces and hooded sweatshirts.

After receiving some cash, they ran away and then sped off in a dark-colored car. It’s not clear how much money the men stole, police said.

A Burger King worker then started following the men on I-35 North and called 911 to report the robbery, police said.

The employee trailed the men as they exited the highway at FM 306 and took the turnaround onto the I-35 South frontage road before turning onto Post Road, the news release said. While heading down Post Road, one of the robbers fired several shots from the car in the direction of the employee’s vehicle, so that worker decided to call off the chase.

No injuries were reported from the shots that were fired.

New Braunfels officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the robbers or their car.
