Man accused of stealing cigarettes from same store 4 times

Albert Herrera, 25, also charged with burglarizing relative's home

SAN ANTONIO – A man who San Antonio police said broke into the same West Side business four days in the same week last month is now spending time in jail.

Police arrested Albert Herrera, 25, Tuesday on burglary charges.

An arrest warrant affidavit said police found fingerprints at the scene of one of those break-ins that linked Herrera to the scene of the crime.

The business, a Dollar General in the 4300 block of Culebra Road, was hit four times during the same week in June.

The affidavit said police collected surveillance video from the store and it showed Herrera using a rock to break the glass front door, then loading cigarettes and cigars into a plastic bag.

Police said they believe Herrera was reselling the cigarettes at a bar at night.

About a week after the last store break-in, relatives of Herrera told police that he had burglarized their home. They said he stole a laptop computer and other items.

Although the affidavits said police had trouble finding Herrera, they did eventually track him down and take him in to custody Tuesday.
