Shooting was reported at home in 1100 block of Plaza Del Sol

SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot and killed by a San Antonio police officer during a domestic incident at a home on the city's West Side, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said early Monday morning.

Officers responded just before 7 a.m. to the home in the 1100 block of Plaza Del Sol, not far from Highway 90 and Cupples Road for threats made against a 15-year-old.

Chief William McManus said when the two officers attempted to go inside the home they heard gunshots, so they backed out of the house and then waited for backup.

By the time a third officer arrived on scene the suspect had exited the home. McManus said the officers tried to talk the suspect into dropping his weapon but when he raised his arm with the weapon one of the officers fired, killing him.

A woman and two other children, ages 10 and 12-years-old were inside the house at the time of the incident. No one else was hurt by the officer's gunfire or by the initial shots that the suspect fired, McManus said.
