Police: Man walking on near West Side street stabbed

Stabbing was reported around 11:30 p.m Sunday on Poplar St

SAN ANTONIO – A man is in the hospital after being stabbed overnight, San Antonio police said Monday.

The stabbing was reported around 11:30 p.m Sunday on Poplar Street near the 1100 block of North Sabinas Street, found on the near West Side.

Police said the victim told them he was walking down the road when a man walked up to him and stabbed him in the chest.

The victim walked to Sabinas Street just a few blocks away where emergency crews picked him up and took him to University Hospital. His condition is not known.

So far no arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
