San Antonio police are searching for witnesses in the shooting death of a woman who was found inside her north side home.

Police said the victim was in her early 70s and they recovered a gun inside the home in the 4300 block of Hollow Hill.

“We don't believe anyone was in the house other than whoever it was who shot her but at this point there were no witnesses that were in the house," San Antonio police Ofc. Javier Salazar said.

Investigators said the woman was shot at least once in the upper body. Her body was discovered around 5 p.m. Monday by a relative.

Several neighbors are now on edge. “We don't know if this happened in the morning. I don't know if this happened on my daughter's way home from school ,” said Vanessa Lopez.

Other neighbors feel unsafe even though they’ve lived in this tight knit quiet community for the past 5 years.

“They're very nice, they were a very nice old couple, one of the few that really did things for the kids Halloween they would decorate and give out candy and stuff . I really can't believe something like this happened here,” said neighbor Mike Parker.

The victim's name has not been released and the case remains under investigation.
