Two men wounded in shooting on city's SW Side

Incident occurred in 200 block of Briggs Avenue

SAN ANTONIO – Two men have been taken to the hospital following a shooting on the city's Southwest Side, San Antonio police said Wednesday.

The shooting occurred just before 8 a.m. in the 200 block of Briggs Avenue near Somerset Road and Southwest Military Drive, not far from South San Antonio High School.

Police said they responded to a call from a woman about a home disturbance. When officers arrived on scene, police said they could hear people inside the home fighting.

When police attempted to get inside they had difficulty due to burglar bars being on the home.

Police said they heard a gunshot and then someone calling out for help, before witnessing a victim on the floor wounded through a window.

Officers said when they entered they found a second man wounded inside. One of the victims was shot three times and not able to talk to police. Police said the other victim was not cooperating.

Two guns were also found inside the home.

Police said at this time they do not know who shot who, or whether either of the men live there. They are also working to identify the woman who made the phone call.

Both wounded men were taken to University Hospital for their injuries.

The investigation later determined one of the victims had been shot, the other was stabbed.
