WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL? To participate in the electoral process.

HAVE YOU RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL BEFORE? Yes, in 1998.

WHAT PREVIOUS LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE? In nursing I was a charge nurse responsible for up to 200 patients, floor nurses and aids. In retail I managed stores and all functions of the stores which included staffing and inventory budgets. As a human rights activist, I organize groups that participated in marches in Washington D.C. regarding human rights, also marches in our state capital of Austin. Locally in San Antonio I organize voter registration drives throughout the city including the Bexar County Jail. I am also the founder of the Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice as well as the founder of the Texas Indigenous Council.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IF ELECTED TO THE CITY COUNCIL? Equal representation of the concerns of all residents of District 2.

WHAT ARE THE MOST DIFFICULT CHALLENGES FACING THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO? Supplying social services in maintaining the basic infrastructure such as street repair, sidewalks, drainage, lighting, EMS, fire protection and police for the population of our continuing growing city.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST OBSTACLES FACING ECONOMIC GROWTH IN SAN ANTONIO? Attracting businesses with a projected extended future in our city that will supply a good living wage along with a good benefit package that will hire local residents as their workforce.

WHAT CAN THE CITY COUNCIL DO TO HELP SPUR ECONOMIC GROWTH? Forming partnerships with these companies moving into our city that benefit our local residents and the infrastructure of our city.

ARE THERE ANY DECISIONS THE CURRENT CITY COUNCIL HAS MADE THAT YOU STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH? PLEASE LIMIT ANSWERS TO 3 ITEMS. On the issue of transportation I oppose the proposed railway system, it is too costly and inefficient. Second would be the continuing funding of the STP nuclear project because it is an outdated form of energy that has proven to be too dangerous and too expensive. Last would be the Pre-K SA because of too many loose ends primarily the problem with the pick up points. Too many students would not be able to be at those pick up points and there is no money for transportation. Once these problems are worked out I would support it.

DID YOU VOTE IN FAVOR OF OR AGAINST THE NEW PRE-K 4 S.A. PROGRAM? WHY? Against as I stated above.

WHAT MORE SHOULD THE CITY DO TO LOWER GANG ACTIVITY AND CRIME IN SAN ANTONIO? The gang injunction is a tactic that seems to work in certain areas where violent gang members operate but we must be careful to protect the civil rights of all residents where the gang injunction is employed.

ARE THERE ANY MAJOR INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE CITY UNDERTAKE? At this time, merely supplying the services and putting in place the infrastructure that residents of older established neighborhoods have paid into would be my goal.
