SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: A jury sentenced 35-year-old door-to-door salesman Richard Amezquita to 60 years in prison for the murder of Kerry O'Toole.

A door-to-door salesman on trial for the murder of a would-be customer was found guilty Tuesday and on Wednesday, the sentencing phase of his case began.
What began as a routine house call for Richard Amezquita, 35, suddenly escalated to murder. He was selling home security systems door-to-door.
Amezquita told police that he and prospective customer Kerry O’Toole, 53, argued as he tried to sell O’Toole a system.
The now convicted murderer claimed that O’Toole attacked him, and he shot him to death in self-defense. The jury rejected that claim Tuesday and found Amezquita guilty of murder.
“For my brother to fear for his life, to be convicted of murder, I do not agree with,” Amezquita’s sister told the jury as she testified during the punishment phase of his trial on Wednesday.
Amezquita’s mother took exception to the verdict.
“I don’t agree with it, but I accept it,” Diana Amezquita said.
