The group Environment Texas, along with Kaco New Energy, hosted the tour at the solar facility on Binz-Engleman Road.

Kaco said it’s a company that first began in Germany, and came to the United States as part of the Alamo Project. They make invertors, among other products, to facilitate renewable energy.

It’s a campaign that the company and Environment Texas hopes San Antonio will build on.

“Renewable energies are definitely the way of the future,” said Emily Weisfeld, a campaign organizer for Environment Texas. “Solar is one of our cleanest and pollution-free sources, and we strongly encourage San Antonio to become the ... leading solar city.”

Along with the tour, discussions were held with the local solar companies San Antonio Solar Alliance and Advanced Solar.
