Heavy rain leads to flooding at North Side apartment complex

8 units soaked after building's roof leaks

SAN ANTONIO – A leaky roof in a North Side apartment building had people heading outdoors in heavy rain Sunday night to look for drier ground.

Firefighters were called to the Escondido Village Apartments, located in the 7200 block of Blanco Road, to help with a water evacuation.

They arrived shortly before 10 p.m. and said they found that eight units in one building had gotten a thorough soaking due to a leaky roof.

All of the people living there had to be moved to other apartments.

The American Red Cross arrived to offer them some assistance.

Firefighters said a carport located below the apartments also sustained some damage.
