SAN ANTONIO -

Saturday's record rainfall caused a major sewage spill in the San Antonio River.

SAWS reports the sewage spill happened Saturday morning as floodwaters overwhelmed the SAWS drainage system.

SAWS says more than 100,000 gallons of sewage gushed from a 54-inch sewer line along Mission Rd. near Mission Concepcion.

The sewage mixed with water flowing into the river.

But SAWS reports the flood runoff was so high that no adverse effects are yet present from the huge sewage spill.

SAWS says workers are now monitoring the river and the sewage spill.
