A retired Army lieutenant colonel was arrested on Monday in Bell County on a warrant out of Bexar County for indecency with a child by contact.
Jon Phillip Tidball, 63, is accused of sexually abusing a young girl from the time she was 8 until she was 14, and the abuse allegedly happened when Tidball was stationed in Germany, Ft. Campbell, and Ft. Sam Houston.
The victim, now 24, told investigators she spoke out about the abuse after learning that Tidball founded a children’s ministry organization, Patriot Kids Ministries, in Salado, Texas.
Though the alleged abuse happened before the founding of the organization, investigators are urging parents whose children attended any Patriot Kids Ministries event to talk to their children and report anything suspicious.
“Any time that there is an individual who has a warrant out for his or her arrest, that has any involvement with sexual assault -- especially of a child -- we are concerned,” said Lt. Michele Cianci, with the Bell County Special Crimes Unit. “The mere fact that he is running a ministry for children in Bell County even concerns us more so."
Bond is currently set at $75,000, and Tidball is being extradited back to Bexar County.
Tidball served 31 years in the United States Army.
