A North Side dentist office offered free care to uninsured adults Saturday.

7to7 Dental & Orthodontics provided free teeth cleanings and emergency dental work, such as fillings and extractions.

The event, "Dental Hope 2014", was held Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Founder and CEO of 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics Justin Coke said the event is done to help those who cannot afford dental care.

"Nearly 50 percent of Americans do not participate in preventive care or have access to a dentist," said Coke. "We developed 'Dental Hope 2014' to provide free dental care to those in need as a way to give back to the community that has helped us grow over the past six years."

Recipients of the care are grateful for the opportunity.

"I think it's a great idea, I wish they would do it a lot more often," said Christina Florez. "It helps out because we have kids to take care of, a lot of us are parents and we can't afford to take care of ourselves, our kids come first so this is a good opportunity for us to come out and get a chance to do something for ourselves."

This is the sixth year the event has been held.
