SA lawmaker files complaint with state agency over deaths of pregnant teen, unborn child

State Rep. Ina Minjarez wants TDFPS to look into slaying of Jennifer Delgado

SAN ANTONIO – State Rep. Ina Minjarez on Monday formally asked that the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate what led to the shooting death of a 15-year-old San Antonio girl and her unborn child.

Minjarez sent an official letter to TDFPS Commissioner Hank Whitman "requesting an immediate investigation" into the death and the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting of Jennifer Delgado and her unborn child earlier this month.

"This is a formal complaint that I would like for Commissioner Whitman to investigate. This should not be occurring in our community, and I encourage DFPS to look into ways that this appalling situation could have been avoided," Minjarez said in a news release.

Delgado was shot and killed March 6 by Armando Rodrigo Garcia-Ramires, police said. The suspect is charged with two counts of capital murder.

Garcia-Ramires is the the father of Delgado's unborn child and the father of her 1-year-old child, officials said.
