SA Stock Show & Rodeo kicks off

Stock Show & Rodeo runs through March 1 at AT&T Center, Freeman Coliseum

It's time to rodeo San Antonio! The 66th Annual Stock Show & Rodeo officially got underway Thursday at the AT&T Center and Freeman Coliseum.

San Antonio's Stock Show & Rodeo has been recognized nationally as one of the top shows for years. 

Attendance for the 2014 stock show and rodeo was over 1.7 million people. This year's rodeo runs through March 1.

The show continues to bring the best animal athletes from North America's top stock contractors and the top professional rodeo contestants to create an experience rivaled only by the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. 

Total prize money for this year's Professional Rodeo Contestants is $1.675 million, making the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo the largest & highest paying regular season PRCA rodeo in North America. 

New shows for 2015 at the Family Fair and Texas Wildlife Expos include; Historical Ag Truck, Cowboy Boot Camp, Acrodunk, Kachunga the Alligator Show, 3-D Kayaking Experience and Wild World of Animals. 

Aside from the main concert performances at the AT&T Center, there will be over 120 bands playing on the grounds. This year's headliners include Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, John Legend and Little Big Town.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is also home to the "World's Largest Junior Livestock Show"   

In 2014, San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo contributed $11.8 million to the youth of Texas, bringing the total since inception to $147.9 million 

There are about 6,000 volunteers that help make the event happen working year-round on 42 committees.

Aside from main events, there will be over 600 merchandise shops, a family friendly carnival, iconic fair-food, live music, shows and attractions. There's something for everyone. 

Tickets for the Stock Show & Rodeo can be purchased online, by calling Ticket Master at 1-877-RODEO or at 210-225-5851 ext. 650, at any Ticket Master retail location, or in person at the AT&T Center ticket booth weekdays from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
