SAN ANTONIO -

Police are searching for the man who shot a waitress while trying to rob a north side restaurant at closing time.

It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Officers said a man walked into the Saltgrass Steakhouse on U.S. Highway 281 near Donella Drive, grabbed a waitress by the neck and demanded money from the manager.

During that time, the restaurant alarm went off.

The man demanded the alarm be shut off, but the manager was unable to do so.

That's when police said the man shot the waitress in the leg and took off without any money.

The waitress was rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center and was expected to be OK.
