SAN ANTONIO -

Local artist Jesse Zapata is helping spread Christmas cheer through his work.

Zapata makes a living painting scenes on store windows for the holidays.

With a few strokes of a paintbrush, he turns a window into a work of art.

On Wednesday morning, he started his day painting windows at Willie's Roadhouse Restaurant on U.S. Highway 218.

He said he's doing what he loves and spreading Christmas cheer at the same time.

"One of my favorite times of the year is Christmas. I really enjoy it," he said. "It's a joy that you can bring to people's faces. That's the most important thing."

Art is Zapata's passion, he said. He paints for work and he paints for fun.

His art can be seen on windows all over San Antonio and South Texas.

He recently painted traditional Christmas scenes at Joseph's Storehouse on St Mary's Street.

"He's just incredible with windows," said owner Patrick McCurdy. "It's just a great, comforting feeling to come in and be reminded of these traditions that we love and hold so true."

Zapata has been painting store windows for 30 years so he's able to work at a very fast pace.

He said he paints at about 10 to 20 stores in a day.

Although the volume of work varies, he works most holiday seasons, including Easter and Valentine's Day.

He said his services are also often requested by Spurs fans.
