San Antonio barber offers free haircuts to police, firefighters

Offer is for July 1, July 2

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio barber Rico Rodriguez will offer free haircuts to police and firefighters on July 1 and July 2 at Rockafellas Barber Shop.

The shop is at 1733 Babcock Road, behind River City Donuts.

Rodriguez, 58, said he’s doing this to show his gratitude for the service of firefighters such as Scott Deem, who was killed during a four-alarm fire in May.

“Police and firefighters risk their lives daily to serve and protect us,” Rodriguez said in a written statement. “This is just my way of saying thank you.”

Rodriguez has never served as an officer or a firefighter.

“I’m really grateful for all these men and women do to keep San Antonio safe,” Rodriguez said. “I couldn’t say that as a young man, but today, I am indebted to our police and firefighters.”

Firefighters and police officers who’d like to schedule a free haircut on the weekend before the Fourth of July can call Rodriguez at 210-782-5188.
