San Antonio hospital put on lockdown after man threatens to kill woman
Suspect arrested after threatening woman at Methodist Hospital
A hospital in the Medical Center was placed on lockdown late Wednesday night after a man in his mid-20s threatened to kill a woman with a screwdriver.
San Antonio police said the suspect held the screwdriver to the woman's neck at their apartment at the Budget Suites at 7880 Fredericksburg Road and then fled toward Louis Pasteur Drive.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspect run inside the Oak Hills Medical Building, which is connected to Methodist Hospital.
Police placed the hospital on lockdown as they searched for the suspect. Officers and a K-9 unit found the suspect hiding in the ceiling of the ninth floor at around midnight.
The suspect refused to come down and officers were forced to pull him off the ceiling, police said. The suspect suffered minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspect already had two felony warrants and would likely face charges for aggravated assault family violence, evading arrest and resisting arrest. His name has not been released.
Police said activity resumed as normal at Methodist Hospital shortly after the incident and no injuries were reported. It was unknown whether the woman who was threatened was hurt.
