Three teens who tried to run from San Antonio police officers after allegedly burglarizing a number of vehicles in a West Side neighborhood are in custody facing criminal charges.
Police, using a helicopter in the sky and dozens of officers on the ground, tracked down the 15-year-old and two 18-year-old males early Monday morning.
The two older suspects are believed to have entered several unlocked vehicles "in a three block radius" of the 1200 block of Bitterlake before 5 a.m., police said.
It was unknown exactly what, if anything, was removed.
A neighbor who was awakened by a barking dog noticed the suspects and called 911, police said.
While officers were searching for the two suspects who had run off, they located the 15-year-old, carrying stolen property, including a cell phone and GPS system, police said.
Officers caught one of the 18-year-old suspects after a brief foot chase in which they reportedly tackled him. The other 18-year-old was found hiding in the back yard of a home, police said.
