He said the car started under an SUV parked in the driveway of the home, then spread to the home and its attic.

Hatton said the first floor of the two-story home was not badly burned, but the house is still a total loss.

He said arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire, but firefighters do not think it was intentionally set.

An officer who was patrolling in the area spotted the the fire and knocked on the woman's door, Hatton said.

The woman, her two sons and their three dogs made it out of the house safely.
