SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police are asking for the public's help as they try to find two suspects wanted in connection with a series of burglaries at a near North Side bar.

According to police, the Brass Monkey bar at 2702 N. St. Mary's St. has been burglarized twice in the past three months.

The first burglary occurred on Aug. 7 at 4:45 a.m. Police said the two suspects broke into the business through the front doors, jumped over a bar, and filled two coolers with alcoholic beverages. Then, in an attempt to steal money from the register, the suspects damaged the machine as they tried to break it open. The thieves left the bar with the coolers and alcohol.

Then on Sept. 15, the Brass Monkey was burglarized again between the hours of 5 and 6 a.m., police said, by a different suspect. This time, the suspect broke in through a window. A security camera captured that person on surveillance video, forcing open a safe and stealing $25,000.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. The number to call is (210) 224-STOP (224-7867). Callers may remain anonymous.
