The San Antonio Scorpions have fired head coach Tim Hankinson after a dreadful start to the second half of the North American Soccer League season.

The Scorpions are winless in four matches of the fall season and have a goal differential of minus-6.

Scorpions founder Gordon Hartman announced the decision to let go of Hankinson Tuesday. Assistant coach Alan Marcina was named interim coach for the duration of the season.

Hankinson's firing comes a year after he led the Scorpions to the playoffs in the franchise's inaugural season.

The Scorpions had also rebounded from a similar bad start in the NASL spring season to finish in playoff contention. Hankinson, the first head coach in Scorpions history, went 19 and 15 with 10 draws.

The Scorpions host Minnesota United FC this Saturday at Toyota Field.
