SAN MARCOS, Texas -

San Marcos is the latest Texas city to go smoke free.
Beginning Wednesday, smoking will be banned at all city-owned facilities and parks.
The ban is the first step toward eliminating smoking in the city.
On June 1, smoking will be banned at restaurants, bars, indoor venues and workplaces.
"People grumbled a bit, but the same customers still come here," said Richard Clower, general manager of Valentino's Pizza.
City officials said the ban is a public health issue and since similar bans are in effect in other Texas cities, it should not be a surprise to residents in San Marcos.
