SAPD arrests sex offender who failed to register

SAN ANTONIO – A sex offender was arrested Wednesday evening for a second time after failing to show up for his annual registration with the San Antonio Police Department.

Detectives with SAPD’s sex offender registration detail put out an arrest warrant for Adrian Deshawn Collins, 36, in November 2013.

Collins, who was convicted of aggravated sexual assault in 1998, is required to register as a sex offender for life and must report in person to verify his registration on his birthday every year. But last June he failed to report, and detectives issued the warrant in November.

Collins is now charged with failing to comply with registration requirements.
