SAN ANTONIO -

A cabinetmaker is accused of failing to do a job and taking off with a customer's money. San Antonio police arrested Pedro Sandoval, 53, on a charge of theft Monday.

A woman filed a complaint with police, saying that she hired Sandoval in September 2013 to build her some kitchen cabinets, an arrest warrant affidavit stated.

The woman told police she used a credit card to pay him more than $1,200 for the job, which he promised to complete in one week.

The affidavit stated that the woman and her husband called, emailed and sent a certified letter to Sandoval during the next two months, inquiring when they would get their cabinets.

Each time, they said Sandoval gave them a different excuse, the affidavit stated.

Finally, Sandoval stopped communicating with the couple, and also ignored calls and emails from a police officer, the affidavit stated.

Investigators said they learned that Sandoval did purchase the materials for the cabinets in September, but never did the work, the affidavit stated. He was booked into the Bexar County Jail with bond set at $1,600.
