SAPD: Homeowner shoots intruder multiple times

Alleged intruder shot by homeowner on near South Side

SAN ANTONIO – A homeowner shot an alleged intruder multiple times early Tuesday morning on the near South Side.

San Antonio police responded to the shooting around 4 a.m. in the 900 block of Green Street off Nogalitos just south of Highway 90.

Police said the alleged intruder, a man in his 20s, broke into the home through a back window and was confronted by the homeowner.

The 70-year-old homeowner then shot the intruder three times in the leg, police said.

Paramedics transported the alleged intruder to the hospital, and police said he was expected to survive. Police said the intruder would likely be charged with burglary.

The homeowner told investigators his home had been broken into several times recently so he decided to keep a handgun nearby. The homeowner was not expected to face charges, police said.
