SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police investigators said charges of trafficking a person and aggravated promotion of prostitution have been filed against 27-year-old Patrick Perez.

Perez is also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and having a prohibited short-barrel weapon.

Perez was taken into custody after officers responded to a report of a man with a shotgun stealing TVs at the EconoLodge at Interstate10 and Vance Jackson Road, but there no televisions were missing.

"We don't know if that's the actual call or someone's perception of what happened or if that was just a story to get the police out there to investigate further," said San Antonio police spokesman Officer Roger Zuniga.

Police said a woman came out of a room to ask officers for help.

At least three women in their late teens or early 20s, one with a child, were taken in for questioning to determine whether they may have been victims of human trafficking.

Zuniga said, “There was some type of indication that may lead us to believe that (the women) had been forced into prostitution.”

Perez is being held under bonds totaling $65,000.
