San Antonio police say an east side school that was on lockdown due to a "police incident" in the area has now been cleared.
According to a statement posted on SAPD's Facebook page, the Carroll Early Child Development Center in the 400 block of Holmgreen Road was put on lockdown as a precaution Thursday afternoon.
Police say students were not in danger. Carroll Early Child Development Center is part of the San Antonio Independent School District.
Police say the incident is related to a "human smuggling operation" in the area near Rice Road and Schumacher.
When police got the initial call, it was for a disturbance at that home.
Once they arrived, they discovered it was a human smuggling operation. A police spokesman at the scene, though, was unable to elaborate on that.
The spokesman did say that there were several people inside the home.
A San Antonio police SWAT team and a negotiator were brought to the scene, but the spokesman said it was a precautionary measure.
After about an an hour and a half, the school lockdown was lifted. Parents, though, were still waiting to pick up their kids.
