SAN ANTONIO -

Police say a tow truck driver was shot on the West Side by the owner of the car he was trying to repossess.

The victim was shot in the upper leg, and investigators said he should be OK.

Police say the shooter fled the scene but they're hoping he'll be back because they believe he lives in this neighborhood.

The 31-year-old tow truck driver was shot just before 3 p.m. on Thursday in the 1000 block of San Luis near South Colorado and Richter Street on the west side.

Police say when he was about to repossess a black PT Cruiser when the owner of the vehicle pulled up next to him, and shot the driver with a shotgun.

“We believe that we have a suspect, a 28-year-old male, but we won't give his name at this point. We do believe we have a suspect and I am confident we will locate that suspect before very long,” said San Antonio police Chief William McManus.

Police say the shooter was riding in a dark-colored Toyota Tundra and a woman was the driver. They've got several officers canvassing the area looking for them.
