SAN ANTONIO -

A woman who police say ran over her boyfriend faces charges after returning to the scene.

Officers say the man suffered serious head injuries when he was hit around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The woman fled the scene but police say she returned a short time later after investigators said she rammed into a fence, leaving her bumper behind.

The woman drove her boyfriend to the 4800 block of Castle Sword, where she called for help.

The man was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

The woman now faces drunken driving and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle charges, police said.

Their names have not been released.
