The medical examiner confirmed Savannah Gomez, 6, died Friday around 9 p.m.

The cause of death is brain stem glioma.

The news first broke around 10:40 p.m. on Savannah's prayer Facebook page.

The post states: "With a heavy heart this is the toughest post I have ever had to make.. At 9 o'clock p.m. [Friday] October 4th, 2013 on her mother's birthday Princess Savannah gained her Angel wings and was among her father and mother and brothers when she took her final breath on Earth.... -Melissa R."

Childhood brain stem glioma is a disease in which benign (non-cancer) or malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the brain stem.
