NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. -

Collapsed deck Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews are treating 24 people who were injured after the pier of a restaurant collapsed, causing them to fall into the water.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Thursday at a bar and grill in the North Bay Village area of Miami, according to KSAT sister station WPLG-TV Miami.

The sports bar deck was packed with people watching the Heat-Spurs NBA Finals game.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said two people were critically injured and 15 people were taken to the hospital.

The U.S. Coast Guard said 100 people were reported to be on the pier.

"We will continue to do whatever we can to assist during this incident," said Cmdr. Darren Caprara, Coast Guard Sector Miami chief of response. "We are fortunate to have strong interagency relationships and are poised to continue to assist our local agency partners as needed."

The Associated Press reported bar customers and rescuers pulled people from the bay amid a chaotic scene.

One witness said he heard a loud explosion and thought a boat had struck the deck.

He said he looked out from the restaurant and saw people staring up from the water, and then he and others started helping pull patrons out of the water.

There was initially some concern that people might have been trapped in the water beneath the crumpled deck.

But divers searched the waters as helicopters shined spotlights onto the scene, and everyone was accounted for.
