GARDEN RIDGE, Texas -

Friends, family and volunteers have been searching in and around a Hill Country community for Leann Bearden, 33, who has been missing since Friday.

“She went out for a hike and saw something that she thought was interesting and went to check it out,” Bearden’s husband, Josh Bearden, speculated as he met with volunteers at his parent's home.

Josh said he and his wife were in town visiting his parents for the holidays. He said he was working at his computer when he last saw his wife.

“She came upstairs and told me she was going to go for a walk and said she would be back in a little bit,” Bearden said.

Josh said his wife had credit cards and about $60 with her.

“She needs help, and I know she is in the area,” Josh said. “She didn’t catch a bus or go to Omaha or anything ridiculous like that.”

Josh said his wife was an experienced hiker and that the couple had just completed a two-year, around-the-world trip visiting third-world countries.

Leann’s disappearance has been reported to the Garden Ridge Police Department and to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office. The case is being carried as a missing persons report.

If you have any information concerning Leanne Bearden you are asked to contact the Comal County dispatcher at 830-620-3400.
