Man lures, sexually assaults boys on premise of teaching self defense

David Isaiah Soto, 20, lured students, assaulted them, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man is in jail, accused of sexually assaulting two boys after luring them to a Westside park on the premise they'd learn self-defense.

David Isaiah Soto, 20, is charged with two counts of sexually assaulting a child.

Police said Soto sexually assaulted 11-year-old and 12-year-old boys at Vidaurri Park on Merida Street.

"At one point, he lured them to the back of the park and that's when he forcibly made them perform oral sex on him," said Sgt. Jesse Salame with the San Antonio Police Department. "He did that to both of them, and he threatened them that he would hurt them their family if they told anybody, and they were petrified, terrified, so they didn't make an outcry until about a month later."

Rose Galvan, who lives close to the park, said her teenage son plays basketball at the park and is disturbed by what happened.

"They play baseball, football; during the week they have practice, so there's a lot of children around here and I have concerns," said Galvan.

Police said they are concerned that Soto may have befriended other victims at the park. They are asking anyone with information about this to come forward.
