A family in Comal County grieving as they say their final good-byes to Xabier Martinez.
Xabier Martinez, 6, drowned over Memorial Day weekend. His body was recovered on Monday afternoon.
On Saturday, his seven brothers, mother and other family members laid him to rest.
"It's unexplainable just how it feels," said Julian Martinez, Xabier's older brother. "Just to lose a brother."
"I'm going to miss coming home everyday from school and having my little brother open the door to me to welcome me," said Sammy Martinez, Xabier's older brother. "I'll miss that a lot.
Xabier Martinez was with his family at Prince Solms Park on Sunday, playing with some other children near the water's edge when someone realized he was missing.
The family searched for him and called police, but that next day on Monday afternoon, their worst fears were realized when divers found his body.
"I want to let everybody know kids are a blessing and you just can't let them out of your sight," said Manuel Martinez, Xabier's older brother. "You gotta keep an eye on them because you never know."
On Saturday, as the seven Martinez brothers laid their youngest brother to rest, they said they will never forget him and all the memories of how happy and helpful he was in his lifetime.
Julian Ortega Martinez, Xabier's older brother, said it has been extremely hard to take, losing his baby brother, but that they are trying to be strong for their mother.
"Especially for mom to lose her baby," said Julian Martinez. "That's just point blank... for a mother to lose her baby as well."
