2 killed, 4 injured in shooting at apartment complex in Houston

Argument between victims, resident triggered shooting, deputies say

HOUSTON – Two people were killed Sunday and four were wounded during a shooting at an apartment complex in northeast Harris County.

The shooting was reported at 6:28 p.m. at the Haverstock Hill Apartments near Aldine Bender and Lee roads.

Harris County deputies said they arrived to find one man dead and five people injured. They said the five wounded people were taken to LBJ Hospital for treatment. One of those people, identified as Christopher Beatty, 33, later died, deputies said.

Investigators said there had been an argument between the victims and a resident. A few minutes later, someone drove up in a white, four-door vehicle, they said. Two people got out of the vehicle and began arguing with the victims, they said. One of the people who got out of the vehicle, grabbed a semiautomatic rifle from the trunk and began shooting, investigators said. The pair then fled in the vehicle, they said.

The identity of the other person who was killed will be released later.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
