SAN ANTONIO -

An attempted shoplifting incident ended in gunfire Tuesday at a Walmart on the city's West Side.

Sgt. Steve Priore of the San Antonio Police Department said a Walmart loss prevention officer tried to stop three people who were leaving with a cart full of stolen merchandise from the store at West Military Drive at Loop 410 at 11 a.m., when one of them opened fire.

The Walmart officer wasn't hit by the shot, Priore said.

Police recovered the shell casing from the weapon and also have a description of the car the suspects were in.

One woman was taken into police custody.
